Susan Elaine Fischels, CNM

Susan Fischels, CNM, APRN, IBCLC, is a certified nurse midwife with clinical experience providing comprehensive care to women in both inpatient and outpatient settings. She offers full-scope midwifery care, including pregnancy, labor and delivery, postpartum care and breastfeeding support. As an internationally board-certified lactation consultant, Susan is passionate about helping new mothers feel confident and supported as they care for their babies.

Before becoming a midwife, Susan worked alongside nurse midwives and was inspired by the relationships they built with their patients. She has practiced as a certified nurse midwife since 1998 and remains committed to providing individualized, team-based care that focuses on each woman's unique needs and goals. Her experience includes first assisting at cesarean sections, providing contraceptive care, including Nexplanon and IUD placement, and caring for women throughout every stage of pregnancy.

Originally from New Jersey, Susan practiced in West Virginia before joining Cherokee Women's Health. Outside of medicine, she enjoys gardening, camping, yoga, spending time at the beach and visiting the Caribbean with her husband and their two children.
