Ronald J Alvarez, MD

Dr. Alvarez is the lead physician and medical director of Northside ENT Specialists with over 30 years of experience. Dr. Alvarez has had a passion for medicine since childhood growing up in New York City where his primary care doctor served as a role model and left a lasting impression on his career. After graduating from Rutgers University College of Pharmacy, Dr. Alvarez went on to the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (now Rutgers Medical School) where he graduated with honors and is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honors society. Dr. Alvarez completed his training in adult and pediatric Otolaryngology at Temple University Hospital and St. Christopher’s Children’s Hospital in Philadelphia.

Dr. Alvarez is board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology in otolaryngology and sleep medicine. Dr. Alvarez treats both adult and pediatric patients for a wide variety of disorders of the head and neck including medical and surgical treatment of sinus and nasal conditions including allergy testing and immunotherapy.

Dr. Alvarez treats dizziness and hearing loss. He offers surgical treatment of certain middle ear disorders, hoarseness and voice disorders, diseases of the tonsils and adenoids, surgical diseases of the head and neck including parotid and thyroid surgery.

Dr. Alvarez is also board certified in sleep medicine and treats obstructive sleep apnea. He offers at home sleep testing and the surgical treatment of obstructive sleep apnea including the Inspire device as well as CPAP therapy.

Dr. Alvarez offers many office based solutions for a variety of disorders including minimally invasive balloon sinuplasty for chronic sinus disease, the treatment of chronic nasal congestion and drainage and minimally invasive treatments for snoring. He offers in office based transnasal esophagoscopy for the diagnosis and evaluation of patients with chronic reflux. Dr. Alvarez sees patients in the Alpharetta and Cumming offices.
