Nathan Carlson, MD

Dr. Nathan Carlson is a board-certified acute care surgeon specializing in trauma and emergency general surgery. He provides comprehensive care for acutely ill and injured patients, including complex resuscitation.

Dr. Carlson has extensive experience leading multidisciplinary surgical teams in high-pressure environments. In addition to his academic trauma experience, he brings more than two decades of U.S. Army surgical leadership, including multiple combat deployments and leadership of deployed surgical teams.

He is committed to providing calm, clear and patient-centered care during some of life's most unexpected and frightening moments. Dr. Carlson believes in combining technical excellence, sound judgment and honest communication to help patients and families navigate urgent medical situations with confidence. He finds it greatly rewarding to help patients recover and return to their daily lives.

Outside of work, Dr. Carlson enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, camping, performance driving and motorsports, as well as following NASA and space medicine.
