Mark Louis Merlin, MD

Dr. Mark Merlin, a Louisiana native, was practicing in a multi-disciplinary oncology group in New Orleans before Hurricane Katrina uprooted his family to Atlanta in 2005. Dr. Merlin reached out to the Radiotherapy Clinics of Georgia (RCOG) due to its strong reputation in the treatment of cancer. He has been practicing at RCOG’s Decatur location ever since. Following in the footsteps of his father, Dr. Merlin elected to become a physician. He attended medical school at Louisiana State University in New Orleans and completed his residency at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. “I chose the field of radiation oncology out of a strong desire to care for cancer patients while utilizing cutting-edge technology in their management.  Radiation oncology allows me the opportunity to directly interact with multiple physician specialists to help diagnose, treat, and follow our mutual patients” Dr. Merlin said.  When not working at RCOG, Dr. Merlin enjoys spending time with his family, exercising, reading short stories, and watching stand-up comedy.  He values his time outdoors hiking, playing tennis/pickleball, and attending music festivals.
