Jack Paiyang Chen, MD

Dr. Jack P. Chen is board-certified in both Cardiovascular Diseases as well as Interventional Cardiology and currently serves as the Director of Interventional Cardiology and Director of Cardiac Research at the Northside Heart and Vascular Institute of Northside Hospital.

Dr. Chen graduated with Distinction from Cornell University and continued on with medical school at the Weill-Cornell University Medical College. He completed his Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine, as well as Fellowship in Cardiovascular Disease at The New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center (now the New York-Presbyterian Medical Center)/Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City.

Dr. Chen brings over two decades of practice experience, specializing in cardiac catheterization and interventional cardiology, as well as nuclear cardiology. He is a nationally and internationally recognized leader in Transradial Interventional procedures. He was the first metro Atlanta cardiologist to perform this procedure and continues to mentor other physicians on this technique. He serves as an invited lecturer/faculty at multiple national and international conferences and was Program Director for the Atlanta Transradial Summit.

Dr. Chen serves on the editorial boards of and has published extensively in numerous national and international peer-review journals, including The Journal of the American College of Cardiology: Cardiovascular Interventions, The Annals of Internal Medicine, The Lancet, and The International Journal of Cardiology. Furthermore, he has authored several textbook chapters and has been repeatedly recognized as “Top Doctor” by the national physician ranking service Castle Connolly, as well as locally by Atlanta Magazine.

In appreciation of Dr. Chen’s dedicated care, a patient family started and continues to endow Northside Hospital’s Haupern Family Scholarship for nursing continuing education in his honor. Dr. Chen additionally holds a patent on a steerable interventional guiding catheter design.
