Christopher Allen Potts, MD

Dr. Christopher Potts is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic sports medicine surgeon who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of sports-related injuries and musculoskeletal disorders of the upper and lower extremities.

Dr. Potts completed his medical education at the Mercer University School of Medicine, and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the Campbell Clinic, later serving as chief resident. He completed his fellowship in sports medicine at the American Sports Medicine Institute, training under the renowned Dr. James Andrews.

Team Physician for Professional, Student and Youth Athletes

Dr. Potts has years of experience serving the Atlanta Region, and has treated patients of all ages and skill levels. He currently serves as team physician for Milton High School, and as a part of his training, he served as team physician for the University of Alabama Athletics, Washington Redskins, Atlanta Braves, Birmingham Barons lacrosse, WWE Professional Wrestling Association, Birmingham Ballet, as well as for multiple professional and collegiate athletes from across the country.

On the Forefront of New Treatments

Dr. Potts has authored multiple publications, and has presented his work at numerous educational conferences. He has extensive training in minimally invasive and open treatment of shoulder injuries including labral tears, rotator cuff tears, instability and arthritis, as well as knee injuries involving the ligaments, meniscus, and cartilage. Dr. Potts also treats elbow injuries, including the “Tommy John” ligament, and fractures throughout the upper and lower extremities. He has a special interest in arthroscopy, and has completed extensive research and training in the arthroscopic/minimally invasive treatment of non-arthritic hip conditions. Additionally, he has traveled internationally to study the use of stem cells and platelet rich plasma (PRP) in the treatment of multiple orthopedic conditions.
