Amsel Melka Siore, MD

Dr. Siore is originally from Ethiopia, where he was assistant professor of medicine and director of critical care division at large tertiary teaching hospital in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. In 1997, he came to USA as senior Fulbright professor and hosted at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). He has re-done residency training at Atlanta Medical Center and fellowship training in pulmonary, critical care and sleep medicine at Emory University, Atlanta, Georgia.

He joined Georgia Pulmonary Group in 2005 and provides patient care in office and hospital settings and teaches medical students and residents. He also educates the community about common pulmonary and sleep disorders through various outlets. “Care with Compassion” is his philosophy and his goal in life is to positively impact people through his profession, and thereby glorify God.

He served as chairman of department of medicine, chairman of quality council, president of medical staff, and member of board of directors at eastside medical center for several years.

He has published in various peer reviewed medical journals including in prestigious medical journals such as The New England Journal of Medicine, The lancet, Quarterly Journal of Medicine, Lung Cell Molecular Physiology and American Journal of Physiology.

His interests include asthma, COPD, Interstitial lung disease, ARDS, sleep apnea, insomnia, pulmonary embolism, non-invasive ventilation, and lung cancer. He is proficient on routine bronchoscopy with transbronchial biopsy, Fine needle aspiration, and trained on EBUS and navigational bronchoscopy.

He is married since 1994 and his wife and best friend is from the same high school, and they are blessed with three daughters (Ruth, Lydia, and Eden). When he is not at work, he enjoys spending time & traveling with his family, serving at his local church, reading, exercising, and watching sports.
