Dr. Rodrigo Maegawa is a board-certified hematologist and medical oncologist with specialized training in hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. As medical director of the Oncology Research Program for Northside Hospital Cancer Institute, he guides the system’s oncology research strategy and advancement of innovative cancer therapies.
Dr. Maegawa’s clinical interests include hematologic malignancies and cell therapy. He specializes in hematology-oncology and has deep expertise in cellular therapies, drug development, and medical strategy. His philosophy of care centers on partnership — working closely with patients to ensure that their goals and values guide every decision they make. He is committed to providing both expert care and compassionate support, helping patients navigate complex diagnoses with confidence.
When he’s not working, Dr. Maegawa enjoys reading, playing tennis, running, hiking with his dog Rocky, attending family gatherings, and listening to music.
