About the Provider
Dr. Shian worked in Orthopedics, Software Engineering, and Emergency Medicine before completing his Family Medicine residency at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics (UIHC) in 2011.
He is a board-certified family physician and hospitalist with additional qualifications in medical education, and point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS). Before joining Northside in April 2022, he was a hospitalist at the Iowa City VA hospital and a clinical associate professor at University of Iowa College of Medicine where he served as a core faculty member in the Family Medicine Residency program from 2013 to 2020.
Dr. Shian earned many awards in medical education and was elected the Teacher of the Year four year in a roll from 2014-2017 at UIHC in the Department of Family Medicine.
